Ulla Mäkinen graduated (MA) from the university of Music and Performing Arts, Frankfurt, Germany in 2009, and as dancer from Outokumpu, Finland dance education in 2004. Currently she is studying as an Iyengar Yoga Teacher.
She has been teaching improvisation and contact improvisation since seven years in dance schools, dance educations, communities and festivals in Europe, USA, Russia and Asia. She is also working as dancer and performer. She is an anatomy freak and loves to approach the human body in a very structural way, and then give space for the mysteries to unfold.. Thus, she teaches also Pilates and Yoga.
In dance, I love to research the inner space and outer space – space within and around us. How do we relate to what surrounds us? And how do we relate to ourselves? Letting the information create a change in us, and the change inform our creation.. It is a constant symphony of relating, a dance of being in the present moment, ever changing, always the same.
